    Scott Castevens

     Club Director, Head Coach

    Scott has over 15 years experience playing beach and 6 years coaching experience with Piedmont Volleyball Club indoor program.  He founded Beach South Volleyball Club (previously PVC Beach) after being approached by a number of players wanting to learn the beach game. He has coached with Misty May and Kerri Walsh and had opportunities to train and play with Olympic Beach Volleyball athletes over the years. Scott has worked with numerous college coaches all over the US and has assisted in getting multiple players recruited to play in college.  Scott continues to compete at a very high level and is regarded as one of the top beach players in NC. To reach Scott on 60+ degree days, look for the nearest sand court.  Scott also coaches the Varsity team at Wesleyan Academy and is a real estate agent with Keller Williams of Greensboro.

    Kevin Troup

    Kevin started playing volleyball on the beaches of South Florida.  Kevin has 20+ years experience playing beach volleyball. He’s coached at every level: College, High School, Middle School, and 6 seasons at the JO level. Kevin is the Co-Director of Champion Volleyball Club in Winston Salem, NC. He is going into his 6th year with Beach South Volleyball Club. Kevin is currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Salem College where he hopes to establish a Beach Volleyball Program in the future. He has an incredible wife, Jennie and two amazing daughters, Samantha (14) and Mikayla (11). Though Kevin still enjoys the competitive tournament atmosphere, his family and coaching come first. But don’t be surprised if you see Kevin in board shorts ready for action.

    Kalliope Castevens

    — Head Coach, Beach Developmental

    Kelly grew up in Ontario, Canada where she played for the Hamilton Seekers.  She moved to Florida for school and ended up playing at Webber International University. She worked with Florida Region USA Volleyball as well. Kelly has been playing beach volleyball for over 7 years, and is going into her 5th year with Beach South Volleyball Club. Kelly is entering her 4th season as the Varsity Head Coach at Wesleyan Academy.  Kelly has two Master’s Degree’s, her latest coming in Education from High Point University.  She currently is an elementary teacher, pursuing a role as Principal one day.

    Bradley Tharington

    — Coach, Year Round Program

    Bradley has been playing beach volleyball for 20+ years all over the US,  in his third season coaching with Beach South.  Bradley is the Lead Coach for the Elite Beach Program and also assists with our BDP Spring/Summer groups.

    Meredith Rosenberger

    — Coach, Year Round Program

    Meredith is in her second year coaching with Beach South.  She will be assisting with the Elite Beach Program and occasionally coaches with our CDP year round program.  Meredith is a very skilled player as well traveling all over the US competing in Women’s Open pro events.  She is an up and comer in the sport of beach volleyball and one of the top players in the state.  She also trains at Beach South.  Meredith is a nurse full time and enjoys spending time with her cat.

    Jody Lee Petty

    — Coach, Year Round Program

    Jody was one of the best players on the east coast in his playing days, winning over 60 Open Tournaments and taking 13th a few times on the AVP tour. Excited to see Jody working with the next generation of players.

    Caley Redden

    — Coach, Year Round

    Caley played her collegiate ball as an Outside Hitter at UNC-Greensboro.  Her beach volleyball career began shortly after graduation.  Caley has over 5 years of beach experience and still plays and trains with some of the top female volleyball players on the east coast. Caley played on the AVP Pro Beach Tour for 2 seasons before getting into the medical field full time. Caley is arguably the best Female Beach Player in the state of NC.

    Sarah Schermahorn

    — Head Coach, Year Round

    Sarah played her in college for Elon University. Upon graduation she played overseas for Brondy in Copenhagen (was best middle for the league). She competed for 2 years at PAVVB in Aix en Provence France. Coached 1 season at Piedmont Indoor Club. Sarah also coached a men’s team in Denmark. Sarah has been training at Beach South as well over the past year and has emerged as one of the top female players in North Carolina.  She has also broken into the pro circuit and has won several pro events this past season.  This is Sarah’s 2nd season with Beach South Volleyball Club.

    Dan Bozarth

    — Coach, Beach Developmental

     

    Coach Bozart “Bo” is very familiar with athletics and coaching. He is the Athletic Director at Caldwell Academy where he also is the Head Coach of multiple sports including Volleyball. Coach Bo has one a volleyball state championship as Head Coach at Caldwell Academy. He had 5 straight 20+ win seasons, 5 straight playoff appearances, State Finals 2014-16, TAC Coach of the Year 2015, and NCISAA 2A Volleyball Sport Chair.   He coached 3 years with Piedmont Volleyball Club and has been with Beach South Volleyball Club for 3 seasons now.

    Mike Green

    — Coach, Beach Developmental

    Mike has been around volleyball for years, coaching indoor club at High Rock for many years and the Head Varsity Coach at West Davidson.  He brings leadership and alot of technical skills to our staff.  He has coached with Beach South for 2 years.

    John Meeks

    John is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, CrossFit Endurance Coach, and CrossFit Kettlebell Certified Trainer. His true passion is working with athletes of all ages to reach their goals. He has helped over 50 athletes get athletic scholarships, with many of those playing Division 1. He has been a Strength and Conditioning coach for Volleyball Vacations and Ultimate Sports Vacations and currently works with multiple clubs and teams in providing the best possible training for their sport.

    Randy Smith

    Indoor Volleyball Coach

    Assistant Varsity coach at Wesleyan Academy, Head JV Coach at Wesleyan for 7 years.  Coached indoor and ran the indoor club Live to Server for 12 years.  Has been a USA Volleyball referee for 22 years.  Randy has ran doubles tournaments for 10+ years in the late 90’s early 2000’s.  Randy has also played volleyball and still active for 25+ years including indoor, grass and beach.  Randy is also a certified captain and dive instructor for 15 years and is also a DJ for 33 years.  Randy is going into his 2nd season with Beach South.

    Ethan Moore

    Indoor Volleyball Coach

    Ethan, a 2015 graduate from nearby High Point University, spent three seasons as a practice player and the Undergraduate Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Division I women’s team at HPU. While at High Point, he was the president of the Men’s Club team as well as a defensive specialist and setter for the team. As a college student, Moore was an assistant coach at Piedmont Volleyball Club, coaching and training girls ages 14-18. Following his time at HPU, he became the Volunteer Assistant Coach at North Carolina State University where he worked closely with the Director of Volleyball Operations to ensure day-to-day activities ran smoothly. After a season with the Wolfpack, he was a head coach for NC Elite Volleyball Club in Morrisville. While with NC Elite, Moore created weekly practice plans for his 14’s team as well as served as the lead coach for defensive specialist and liberos for all national teams, ages 13-18. Ethan currently works in Winston and resides in his hometown, High Point.

    Katie Clark

    Indoor Volleyball Coach

    Currently a student athlete at Greensboro College. from Gilbert, Arizona and has been playing competitive volleyball for 9 years. trained as a setter for the past 7 years and has played two seasons as libero/defensive specialist. Her collegiate background gives her the edge to push her team to the next level of skill, hard work, and volleyball IQ. Katie began her coaching career with Piedmont Volleyball Club in Greensboro, North Carolina as a 14/15s coach. She also ran clinics and summer camps to help athletes achieve their goals on and off the court. This is her third season coaching.

    Tori Belcher

    Indoor Volleyball Coach

    Tori is currently a student athlete entering her junior season at Greensboro College. She has been playing competitive volleyball for nine years at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. She is experienced both as a defensive specialist and played libero for five years.  Coached for River Valley Juniors while still in high school, coaching 13’s and at various developmental high school summer camps.  The past two seasons coached 15’s for Piedmont Volleyball Club at the zonal level as well as coaching in clinics, privates, as well as summer camps.

Meet Our Lynchburg Directors & Coaches

    Rachel Willis

    Rachel Willis has played volleyball for over 15 years, and came to Lynchburg, Virginia, from Riverside, CA, to play for Liberty University. Since then she has coached indoor for local clubs and served for seven years as an assistant at Randolph College. She is starting her third year coaching club beach volleyball at Liberty U, where she has overseen several 1st place tournament finishes as well as 3rd place finishes at NCSVA Nationals in Santa Monica, CA.

    Kaleb Van de Perre

    — Assistant Director, Head Coach

    Kaleb Van de Perre is a recent addition to the local volleyball scene, hailing originally from Michigan before moving to Lynchburg, VA. While in graduate school at Liberty, Kaleb played two years of collegiate beach volleyball, earning several tournament wins as well as success in multiple VolleyAmerica Open events. He has trained with Olympian Eric Fonoimoana and finished his collegiate career with a third place finish at NCSVA Nationals in Santa Monica, CA, losing in the semifinals to a duo from UCLA.
